About The Liberian Scientist
The Liberian Scientist was founded in 2009 as Liberia's first online science journal. Our digital archives offer Liberian science students, teachers, and researchers opportunity to communicate their work to the larger community. Research papers are reviewed for submission by editors at Hunter College High School, a school in New York City.
We believe Liberia's sustainable post-Civil War rehabilitation is contingent on a revival of its scientific culture. By providing a vehicle for scientists to showcase their research, The Liberian Scientist serves as a reminder of Liberian innovative capacity. Clearly science is alive in Liberia.
Beyond our archives, The Liberian Scientist is committed to promoting science communication and education throughout Liberia. Our blogs offer opportunity to discuss locally relevant science and health issues. We also offer resources for science educators, including curriculum suggestions and discussion groups.
The objectives of this blog are...
- To offer Liberian scientists opportunity to share research with their Liberian peers and the international community
- To facilitate dialogue addressing scientific and health issues affecting local communities
- To provide Liberian science teachers access to educational resources, including discussion forums
- To foster curiosity and innovation within the Liberian science community
This blog is a chance for the Liberian science community to ask questions, exhange experiences, and brainstorm for the future. We are listening!
